What We've Been Up To in March...

Lots of fun things have been happening in March.
Jaymi made her first Quiznos sandwich, all by herself (wearing gloves of course) for Mark.
She loaded it up with meat and spicy sauce.  I think she was hoping he would hate it - she was trying to play a trick on him - but he actually loved it.

She learned about money.
We inspected various bills,

talked about forgery,

counted change and brought it to the machine at the bank where we traded it for bills,
and she began using her little ATM bank machine.
This little toy is awesome.  It allows her to keep track of how much she has, how far she is from a goal she can set (saving up), she needs her bank card inserted to do anything (along with a password she created), and when you insert coins, it adds them up automatically.

We had a fun spontaneous photo shoot during Spring Break.

We made apple pie.

As usual, Jaymi spent a lot of time cuddling with Socks,

And on this rare occasion, cuddled both cats at the same time.

I took Jaymi out on a date to see The Lorax during Spring Break.
She loved it.  She now wants a Truffula tree!
;)

And did you know there is a Lorax App for the iphone?
Of course there is!
LOL

Jaymi drew an awesome picture of our whole family!

She had a fun fluff fight with a friend.

We made up a new way to practice spelling.  (She is getting pretty bored with the same old ways, every week.)
We call this garage spelling.

We took out a Christmas present that hadn't been started yet.
Our giant crossword puzzle.
Fun!

Jaymi and a friend made pancakes together.

We watched Socks sleep, in his weird, uncomfortable-looking way.

We played with Amazing Spheres.
They start out like teeny hard plastic beads and expand (in water) to big soft, bouncy spheres.
The clear ones completely disappear in water - it's so strange!

And we took our annual St. Patrick's Day family photo.

Snow Days!

So, here in Victoria, it doesn't snow much.  Our winters are mild, rarely dipping below 0 degrees Celsius for long, and we get one snow per winter...maybe two.  The snow typically doesn't last long either, which is why you'll find all of the children rushing out to play it in it in case it disappears by lunchtime, or the next day.

Jaymi has been praying for snow for months.
This week she got the answer to her prayer.
It snowed overnight and she was thrilled.
She immediately showed Socks the snow (it's his first snow!)  He doesn't like the feeling on his paws, and just wanted to get back inside.

So Jaymi had fun playing in the snow.
Sledding especially - we have a great little hill in our backyard, and she had so much fun sledding over and over and over again.

Of course, making snow angels was important - she made tons (and so did I!)

I tried to get some nice winter pictures of her.
And Mark was nice enough to take a photo of Jaymi and I - I love this one!

So the next night it snowed waaaay more and ended up being a snow day for us.
Some schools were open (some closed partway through the day), many buses weren't running, and we definitely couldn't get down our hill (or back up), so we had a fun snow day at home.

We started the day with fun pancakes - I made a cat one for Jaymi,

...and a bunch of snowflake pancakes too.

And some random shapes as well.

Then we made some homemade hot chocolate instant mix, carrot muffins, and other stuff, and headed outside to play in the snow.
The very deep snow!

I'm so glad that Jaymi got to do the fun stuff that every kid wants to do in the snow.
